![]() We are a family operation, which allows us to keep our prices fair and reasonable. We feel the quality of our horses is excellent and we are constantly looking to improve the quality of each new foal crop. Disposition is a must with 6 children running around the farm. With that in mind our second stallion was a Khemosabi out of a Nabiel daughter named Khemo-Nabiel, or Khemmy as he was affectionately called all his life.
We have not been at the shows for over a
decade. We chose to raise our children, Christopher, Jonathon,
Christina, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Angela at home rather than at
horse shows. This has not kept me from keeping up with what is going
on in the show world.
My family acquired our our first Arabian
stallion in 1965, when I was 8 years old. The black-bay stallion
named Sunrea AHR #017349, was our foundation sire. He is in the
pedigree of our domestic horses. We recently added a small group of
Straight Egyptian mares to our herd along with a select group of
breeding colts from a variety of different National
Champion Stallion lines.
In 1981, after years of research, Khemmy was
purchased as a weanling, to show and to breed to our Sunrea
daughters. It proved to be an excellent cross and Khemmy was an
extremely popular stallion. He was one of the top producing
Khemosabi sons with 60 plus foals, which I'm very proud of;
considering all his promotion was done on a school teacher's salary.
He won his first halter class the first time shown as a yearling. He
was Res.Jr. Champion as a 2 year old, beating out a Buckeye top 8
colt for this honor. He was the Ohio State Fair All Breed Liberty in
1988 and again in 1989. He was like a member of the family. His
untimely passing in 1995, at the age of 14; cut short his breeding
career and left a void in my heart. His legacy lives on through his
son Ivy Hill Lancelot (Ohio Futurity Champion) and his daughters
here at the farm.
We own the 157 acre farm we are located on, in
the beautiful Mohican Area of Ohio. We are 5 miles south of the
Mohican State Park on State Route 3; which is approximately half way
between Cleveland and Columbus. This is about 7 miles south of
Loudonville, Ohio or 1 mile north of the little town of Jelloway, on
the East side of the road. We have neighbors that are both English
and Amish. One of the largest Amish communities in the U.S. is
within a 30 mile drive. We raise most of our own feed (hay and
corn), and raise beef cattle also. We rent several hundred acres
from our neighbors to raise the crops.
We have constructed our own facilities and
continue to upgrade and add additional facilities as needed. This
also helps us keep our costs down.
